As Religion Editor of New Middle Eastern Studies, the BRISMES journal for graduate students and early-career researchers, I would like to encourage you or your colleagues and students to consider publishing in NMES. In the year since its launch we have set a high standard for contributions, and are looking for similarly high-quality submissions for publication this year.
NMES applies the same peer-review process as other academic journals, but is quicker and more flexible:
- Because material is published online on a rolling basis, authors do not have to wait for available space in print issues. NMES aims to publish within a few months of submission.
- Word limits are more flexible for the same reason.
- Format is more flexible: as well as traditional articles, we accept quick studies of about 2,000 words and reviews of books, articles, films or exhibitions.
- The journal is open-access – no subscription or university log-in is requred to download pdf articles.
- Authors receive detailed feedback, whether upon rejection or in preparation for publication.
So this is a useful tool for young researchers to publish their work rapidly, publish material that might not fit the traditional article format, and get experience of the peer-review process.
Please do pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.
