Using the list

January 10th, 2012

If you are already a member of the Network’s email list, the following information may be helpful to you.  It is derived from the initial welcome email that you will have received.  If you have not yet joined the list, please go back to the main page about the list and subscribe before trying to use any of these commands (they only work for subscribers).

To post to this list, send an email to:

You can only post messages from the same address with which you subscribed to the list (non-members are not allowed to post).  Your email will be sent to the editors for approval.  Note that the list editors can only approve or reject your email, they cannot edit it.  Be aware that sending to the list involves writing to a great many people around the world, and so you probably want to ensure that your message really does say what you mean it to say.  You may also want to careful about including personal contact details, especially if you subscribe to the list using a private email address rather than (for example) a university address.

General information about the mailing list is at:

If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (e.g., switch to or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your subscription page at:[your email address in amended form, see below]
You need to add your email address to the end of this address, replacing the @ with %40.  For example:

You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:
with the word ‘help’ in the subject or body (don’t include the quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions.

All messages sent to the list are permanently stored in the list archive.  This is accessible only to Network members (you will be asked for your registered email address and password), and can be found either by clicking the link on the general list information page noted above, or by following this link:

You must know your password to change your options (including changing the password itself) or to unsubscribe etc.  There is a button on your options page that will email your current password to you.

If you are having problems with using the Network list and the information provided here has not helped you, please contact Christine Lindner or Michael Marten, the list and website administrators.
