The books aims to provide a brief and first-hand description of the actual situation of all the catholic churches in the Middle East in their context. The first five chapters are dedicated to a general view of the Middle East , to the origin of these churches and to their relation with the respective orthodox churches. Then the following churches are described one by one: maronite, chaldean, melkitem armenian catholic, syrica catholic, coptic catholic and latin church. The last five chapter focus the actual challenges of these churches: christian witness in a muslim and jewish world, ecumenism, interreligious dialogue, emigration.
